Review author: Terrari School of Design

Previously, few people were involved in landscaping a country house or dacha, since everyone had enough of a vegetable garden, a well, a water pump, and a cozy place to relax. Some laid paths from tiled or concrete slabs in order to move comfortably in bad weather.

But now landscape design projects have become popular. Land owners strive to copy a good version created by a master of this craft or create their own based on personal preferences.

Some manage to take a part from one work, another, a third and form a unique version.

Creating a plan

Let's start with the fact that high-quality landscape design of a house is impossible without a plan for the upcoming work. It all depends on the scale of the idea. Sometimes it is enough to mentally draw up several stages and then implement your plans.

But, if the scope of the project is too large, then it is worth using computer modeling. Thanks to special programs, you can only use your mouse to express your own imagination in the form of a monitor image. The most advanced assistants are:

  • Sierra Land Designer 3D 7.0;
  • Realtime Landscaping Architect.

If you do not have sufficient computer skills, you can draw a plan for the upcoming work on paper or cut out various parts from a photo of landscape design from a magazine or the Internet, so that there is a clear example.

As a last resort, a list of upcoming actions aimed at improving the space surrounding the house can be written down as a list on paper. Any of these approaches will help you see the big picture and remember what needs to be done to achieve your goal.

Learn through play

Through the game there is interaction with each other, learning new things, understanding the world around us, and socialization. Classes carry a special load. The tables are placed so that the light falls from the left.

Tables and chairs must be suitable for children in age and height so that their posture does not deteriorate

Frameless furniture does not have sharp corners, therefore it is considered the safest for children

Bright images are not appropriate in the classroom; here it is necessary to concentrate, assimilate information, and consolidate the results obtained. The walls are painted in soothing shades, the furniture is comfortable and durable. The necessary supplies are placed in the cabinets: pencils, albums, notebooks, colored paper, toys that help to establish contact with children. A magnetic board, handouts, and visual aids are placed against the wall. The study room gradually prepares you for being in the classroom. Its design is laconic, with game elements.

An example of a successful study group design

The interior of a kindergarten is an important parameter that influences the preferences of parents when choosing a preschool institution and the desire of children to attend it. The aesthetic, artistic, and cognitive development of the child depends on it; it can be decorated in various styles.

To conduct full-fledged physical education classes, you need a gym

The kindergarten should be cozy so that children want to return there every day

The design of a kindergarten allows you to show creativity and imagination, make the preschool institution special and interesting, fully complying with educational standards and requirements.

Let's transfer the plan to the site

To clearly understand what the design of the site will look like, you should use marks in the form of a peg, rope, lines on the ground or a mound of lime, sand, or chalk.

The work should start with decorative decorations. To do this, you can use old things, damaged car tires, rotten wooden carts, outdated barrels, broken furniture, shells of buckets or basins.

These items are suitable for enhancing your garden design. But before use, they need to be revived: restored, decorated and painted.

You can plant charming annual flowers in the created containers:

  • marigold
  • petunia
  • calendula,
  • nasturtium.

How to neatly decorate a small garden?

We have harmoniously arrived at this moment. We started with crafts for flowers, but that’s not all, thanks to which you can improve your garden design. It’s very good that it’s not big, because you won’t have to work hard or spend personal time to keep it in good condition. To carry out the planned work will not require large expenses.

But what is garden design based on? First of all, these are beautifully planted trees. How to do it:

  • The space under the trees can be mulched. For this, crushed stone and decorative pebbles are used;
  • For beauty, decorative bushes of lilac, olive, and orange are added. The main thing is that they do not take up much space, but ensure the attractiveness of the garden;
  • Trees should be planted along the perimeter of the garden area to save space for mounting a hammock, gazebo, benches, table, Japanese rock garden, fish pond or fountain.

Country (rustic) style

Naturalness, this is precisely the feature that characterizes the rustic Country style. Its diversity, priceless charm, warm simplicity are reflected in the traditions of different peoples. Country style is suitable for those who love simplicity, comfort, soft home peace, and practicality. To create a rural atmosphere in your garden plot, you will not need large financial investments; all materials used can be made from available materials.

Distinctive features of Country style

A distinctive feature of the Country style is that here you can apply the entire breadth of your imagination. Things that have already served their useful life are suitable for arranging a garden plot. These can be: wicker baskets, flower pots, clay pots hung on the fence. Vine and dry tree branches are well suited for creating fences and flower beds. For the arrangement of paths, natural stone, cobblestones, pebbles, and ceramic tiles are used. A wooden cart wheel, a working or decorative well will only emphasize the beauty of the design. Bright wooden benches, as well as small painted stools, would be appropriate next to an artificial pond overgrown with reeds.

The landscaping part of decorating a garden in a rustic style does not require any special effort; mainly trees and crops from the region where the owners of the plot actually live are planted in the garden area. Popular fruit trees include apples, pears, plums, cherries, and cherries. You can plant various shrubs, such as: rose hips, viburnum, sea buckthorn, lilac. It is also preferable to plant flowers native to the region in which they grow. For example, Russia is characterized by: asters, daisies, marigolds, mint, and various climbing plants that can perfectly decorate hedges or a gazebo.

IMPORTANT! When arranging a garden courtyard in a rustic style, you should adhere to a certain connection to a particular region. You should not mix the ethnicity and life of different nationalities; it is better to correctly maintain a single line.

Zoning

To create functional areas, you can use small fences, a vineyard, the main thing is that it looks natural and relaxed. What to highlight:

  • Front part. Guests will be able to pass through or enter this area. For arrangement it is worth using no more than 6% of the total area.
  • Relaxation area. 10-14% is enough for high-quality arrangement.
  • Economic territory. The buildings in this zone should be hidden from view, since they are not beautiful, but very necessary for the home owners. Usually this is a garage, greenhouse, barn for chickens, ducks, cows, bulls, pigs. But it is not necessary to contain the entire list of animals. Some even give up livestock altogether.
  • Game Zone. On its territory conditions are created for the entertainment of children.
  • Garden. For most summer residents, this is the primary reason for purchasing or building a country house. Usually takes 60-75%.

To save space, some landscape design styles allow zones to merge. In this way, a multifunctional zoning is formed that includes two or more purposes. But this must be done wisely, taking into account the requirements of all family members.

Let's add a pool

Modern landscape design of the yard must include a swimming pool. But usually it all comes down to the substantial costs of its construction. Therefore, it is worth choosing a cheap option based on a frame model or a version with a cup made of composite material connected to the terrace.

It’s easy to set up a so-called “patio” near the pool. This is a place with soft sofas based on the English style, armchairs, and a coffee table to organize an unforgettable breakfast, lunch or dinner for household members or guests.

This area can easily be improved with an umbrella or a folding canopy. The shade will allow you to spend the whole day reading a book in the open air, and also monitor the safety of children's games.

Keukenhof

Location: Netherlands.

Every spring, the gardens attract tourists and guests from all over the world with their unique beauty. More than 7 million flowers bloom in this colorful slice of paradise - tulips, daffodils and hyacinths. Visitors can enjoy the beauty and then relax in one of the many restaurants or cafes in the Keukenhof Gardens. Boat excursions and bicycle rides are also popular here.

Fence

Even the most well-kept yard can be ruined by a huge pile of steel serving as a fence. It will attract a lot of attention, and the owners will consider it closed and unpleasant neighbors.

It is worth matching the fence design with the house and other elements of the yard. In some cases, the use of a high solid fence is justified, for example in an area with a bad criminal reputation.

But it’s easier to design a decorative fence used to highlight the boundaries of your own property. Such a fence can include climbing plants or live flower inserts based on flowerpots.

We have considered many ideas for creating landscape design, but they should only serve as an example for developing your own plan for upcoming improvements to the area near the house.

To do this, you can rely on the canons of a well-known style or create something of your own. Usually the latter option allows you to have a fun holiday and leaves many positive memories.

Alpine style

Alpine style is created preferably in elevated areas. The main material is stone. The concept of the style is a mountain landscape; to reproduce it, an imitation of alpine slides is used. Despite the labor-intensive process, the style allows you to create a truly exclusive garden, which is basically impossible on the plain. Along with stone, various types of plants are used; together they create a magnificent picturesque corner of unique nature.

Key elements of style

Naturally there is stone, and also contrasts - a paved sidewalk in different shades, a variegated range of plants, multi-colored gravel. It is very convenient if the site is located on a slope, this will allow you to beat the existing landscape without additional work. Alpine style implies the presence of winding paths, retaining walls, all kinds of stone structures and gravel embankments. The complete picture of the site forms a single landscape complex.

The plants planted on the site are mainly evergreen, for example, coniferous trees recreate and replicate the nature of the alpine area. Suitable for landscaping are pyramidal juniper, thuja, pine, dwarf tree species, moss, heather. All kinds of bodies of water look great: cascading waterfalls, small streams, artificial ponds. For flower beds it is better to use perennials, plants characteristic of mountainous areas. Landscaping smoothes out sharp transitions on an elevated site, and also plays a big role in zoning the territory.
